A Tapping Process For Allergic Reactions
By Gwenn Bonnell
Does your child complain of headaches and stomach problems so often
that these symptoms regularly interfere with school and other daily
activities? Imagine having a quick, effective technique at your fingertips
to help relieve these problems without drugs, needles or any negative
side effects! Read how one mother found an energy technique that eliminated
her son's food allergies.
My friend Cindy discovered that food allergies and sensitivities were
the cause of her son's chronic stomach problems and intense headaches.
At age nine, Jason tested very allergic to chicken, corn and corn syrup
- all favorite parts of his daily fare. Although not easily accomplished,
Cindy was able to control her child's intake of and reaction to these
foods. But at age 11, avoidance while socializing with friends was a
challenge for the young man. Soda was Jason's nemesis and he would often
return from weekend outings with headaches resembling migraines and
stomach upset, even diarrhea. After being up all night with these symptoms,
school on Monday would be out of the question. Last spring, Cindy brought
Jason to me on one of these Mondays.
I used EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) to address Jason's allergies.
This procedure can be applied to oneself or others and involves tapping
on certain acupressure points while making some statements and being
tuned in to a specific problem. First, rate the intensity of the problem
or issue on a scale from zero to ten with ten being the most intense
discomfort imaginable and zero being complete absence of symptoms. Then,
perform the Four Basic Steps: the Setup, the Tapping Sequence, the Eye
Roll, and another Tapping Sequence.
1) The Setup
With the fingerpads of two fingers, tap on the Karate Chop Point of
one hand continuously while repeating the Setup Statement "Even though
I have this problem, I deeply and completely accept myself," three
times. The Karate Chop Point is the fleshy part of the side of the hand
below the little finger that hits the edge of a table during a karate
chop motion. In the Setup Statement, you can replace "This problem"
with the specific issue you are treating. For example, we substituted
"These allergic reactions to chicken" when treating Jason's chicken
allergy.
2) The Tapping Sequence
Using two fingers, tap about five times on the following points: beginning
of the eyebrow, outer edge of the eye, directly under the eye, under
the nose, the chin, the collarbone, under the arm, and the Karate Chop
point. Stay focused on the problem by repeating a Reminder Phrase such
as "This chicken allergy."
3) The Eye Roll
Make a fist with one hand and draw a "V" back from the knuckles of
little finger and ring finger. Inside this "V" is a depression called
the Gamut Point. Tap continuously on this point, stay focused on the
problem, look down to the floor and slowly roll your eyes in a straight
line from the floor to the ceiling.
4) Repeat the Tapping Sequence
Tap on the eyebrow point, outer edge of the eye, under the eye, under
the nose, the chin, the collarbone, under the arm, and the Karate Chop
point while repeating a Reminder Phrase. Points on either side of the
body can be used; even switching from side to side is allowed.
Rate the emotional or physical issue on the 0-10 scale again. Keep
repeating the procedure until the rating comes down to zero. Sometimes
EFT offers quick resolution for a problem, other times persistence is
required. The symptoms themselves can be addressed as the specific problem
in the Setup Statement. I have shared the basic steps here; certainly
this technique can be fine-tuned to deal with stubborn problems.
We first addressed Jason's allergy to chicken with EFT. After 15 minutes,
my young client tested clear of any sensitivity to chicken! And the
results strongly indicated that he would remain that way! How did this
happen?
If a disruption in the body's energy system contributes to an emotional
or physical problem, then by balancing the energy system with this process
the body has more of what it needs to heal or become healthier. EFT
has produced remarkable results for many people for a variety of emotional
and physical problems, but it should not be used as a substitute for
medical treatment. While still considered in the experimental stage,
practitioners and the public must take complete responsibility for their
use of it. Jason's case, however, evidences the effectiveness of this
technique.
In Jason's session, we next focused on his corn syrup allergy. Although
corn syrup is in many processed foods, his most intense reaction was
to soda products. After a few rounds using "Even though I have this
allergic reaction to corn syrup, I deeply and completely accept myself"
as the Setup Statement and "Allergy to corn syrup" as the Reminder
Phrase, we brought the allergy to a zero. Then we addressed each ingredient
listed on a Coke label as an allergen and did round after round of tapping
until Jason tested clear of sensitivities to each component. However,
he still had a reaction to "something in the Coke"! We continued
the process until he tested totally clear. This pre-teen was not too
impressed, and of course his mother was skeptical - this seemed way
too easy!
A few months after the session Cindy reported that her son's headaches
and stomach problems had cleared. Jason had no more intense reactions
even though he was eating chicken and drinking soda in moderation. The
real test, however, was summer camp. Amazingly, Jason indulged in sodas
on a continual basis at camp with no bad reactions!
Almost a year has passed and Jason remains free of stomach problems.
His still gets occasional headaches, but they are milder and occur much
less often than before our session. Also, Cindy has learned EFT and
is able to give her son relief when he begins showing any symptoms.
EFT is a simple yet effective technique that allows you more control
over the quality of life for you and your family. This is true empowerment!
